From rental car GPS navigation to roadside protection, we deliver everything you need to have a positive, stress-free car rental experience.
Want to make sure you know where you are going? Then it is a smart idea to have GPS navigation included in your rental car. This service is available to you for an additional fee. We hold your request with your reservation, but cannot guarantee availability until rental pickup. We encourage you to please call ahead to your rental location to confirm availability.
Child Safety Seats
Is a small child going to be traveling with you? Then it is important for them to have a safe place to sit. We offer child safety seats that serve as an infant (5-20 pounds) restraint in a rear-facing configuration or as a toddler (20-40 pounds) restraint in a forward-facing configuration.
Many of our locations also offer booster seats for youngsters between 40 and 80 pounds. These seats can vary in model and style, so we encourage you to contact your rental location in advance with any specific questions you may have.

Car Rental Services
There are a wide variety of different car rental services available to our clients. We encourage you to take a moment to read about them below so that you have the knowledge and expectations necessary to make your next rental a successful experience.
Cashless Toll Roads & e-Toll Service
If you do not pay cash for tolls, you automatically opt into our e-Toll service, pursuant to which you agree to pay us or our toll program administrator, which whom we will share your credit card/debit information, for all tolls incurred during your rental and all related fees, charges, and penalties. Under the e-Toll program, once you pass through an electronic toll, you will pay a convenience fee of $2.95 for each day of the entire rental period, including any days on which e-Toll is not used, up to a maximum of $14.75 per rental month, plus incurred tolls at the maximum prevailing rates posted by the toll authority. You can avoid the convenience fee and any other charges by paying the toll in cash, using your electronic toll device, or avoiding any cashless toll road or passage.
Please be aware of roads that may be “cashless tolls” as drivers on these roads are not able to pay cash once they have entered these roads. The charges may take 4-8 weeks after the rental to be billed to your credit card/debit card on file.
These expenses include lost keys, lockouts, tire changing services, fuel delivery, and towing.
Emergency Sickness Protection
This protection is available to renters with a valid non-US passport. It offers coverage for travelers in case of illness during their rental period. It also protects any other international travelers in their party.
Loss Damage Waiver (LDW)
This is a waiver for all or part of your financial responsibility related to the loss or damage to the rental vehicle, revenue lost by Smart Auto Rental for loss of vehicle use, and any administrative expenses related to the vehicle. When you purchase this waiver, our company will pick up the tab for these costs. Make sure to check your rental agreement for any additional information about LDW or inquire about it at the rental counter.
Personal Accident Insurance (PAI)
This provides accidental death insurance, medical coverage for injuries due to a covered accident, and ambulance expenses to renters. Make sure to check your rental agreement for additional information about PAI or inquire at the rental counter.
Supplemental Liability Insurance (SLI)
SLI is designed to provide protection against third party automobile claims. It covers the difference between the minimum financial responsibility limits listed in the terms and conditions and a maximum combines single limit liability that is dependent on the jurisdiction of the rental for bodily injury, death, or property damage for each accident. This coverage is subject to all of the conditions and limitations described in your rental agreement.
In the event of a roadside emergency, our team will be there to assist you with our Roadside Service Plan (RSP). This plan provides help 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, including holidays.
How It Works
When you sign up for our RSP, you will receive a brochure that provides you with all of the emergency numbers you need to call for roadside assistance. During regular business hours, the renting location will dispatch the necessary service to your location. Need help after hours? Then you will be directed to a 1-800 call center. In either event, service will be dispatched within a matter of minutes and help will be on the way.
The brochure will also outline all of the different program benefits you should expect, including:
Battery Jumpstart – In the event, the car won’t start, our team will jump-start the vehicle and make sure you are on your way. This service is available even if the battery issue is your fault (i.e., you left the lights on overnight).
Lockout Service – If you accidentally lock your keys in the vehicle, we will send our service out to help you regain entry.
Flat Tire Service – A damaged or flat tire will be changed out for an inflated spare for you. If an inflated spare is not available, the vehicle will be towed to one of our rental locations or a service dealership.
Fuel Delivery – An emergency supply of fuel is delivered to you and your vehicle. This enables you to reach the nearest open gas station to fuel up.
Towing & Winching Service – If your vehicle becomes inoperable, towing or winching charges will be covered. The vehicle will then be brought to one of our rental locations, a service facility, or a dealership. In most cases, a replacement vehicle will be provided to you.
